I haven't been through gallery in a while, so it's a pleasure to visit again.

I've been meaning to comment on this one for a while -- I had it in my watch list but I couldn't quite explain it. I certainly didn't like the image! But I kept coming back to look at it because it's both disturbing and fascinating (and what's truly disturbing about it is what interests me).

First -- without the other image of the legs in this series, I would have no clue. The texture is so unexpected that I would never have thought these would be legs. The texture and the wrinkles/folds makes them look like rolls of tarp used to cover a swimming pool. They look like some sort of textile.

Since the wall makes it look like this is the bottom of a swimming pool, the odd thing that looks like an eye in the shadows is especially alarming. I suddenly wonder if this is some huge sea creature (a whale) stranded out of water. The eye is small, but this looks like it could be the side view of a whale's head....but that's not possible. And yet it can't possibly be legs, either....

So this originally left me baffled and disturbed. It felt like an image from an old Science Fiction movie -- some alien creature fallen to earth and trapped in an empty swimming pool. This impression was so strong (at least the feeling of that mystery was) that even when I am told it is an image of legs, I reject that reading!

Surreal/conceptual photography at its best.
